RSS FeedsGuidelines and Tips for Tags and Tagging in Allfeeds.org
The Allfeeds.org RSS Feed Directory offers a unique presentation and opportunity to organize and promote your RSS Feeds in a targeted search engine friendly presentation. It is done by tagging each item within your feed via a semi-automatic process. The process makes it quick and easy to tag each item in a very targeted and individualized manner. For the purposes of this FAQ, we will refer to each item in your RSS Feed as [blog] post. However, it could just as well be any page on your website. Because one of the overall objectives is to help your SEO rankings, we ignore any posts that are less than 250 words (what's the point of promoting a post that lack any significant content (also it also us avoid low quality sites that simply publish excerpts from other sites). Once your RSS Feed has been submitted and approved, you'll be sent an email every time we find new posts in your feed (you can also check our control panel). You must then tag the post(s) for them to appear in our directory. Each post can have up to 10 tags added to it. The process of adding tags is very quick and simple:
Finished Tagging: Once you have completed the tags for this post, this link will take you to the next post or return you to the Feed Control Panel. TAG: Clicking tag will pop up a small window that shows the current tags for this post and allows you to enter and remove tags. To enter a new tag, simply type in the tag and click add tag. To remove a tag, simply click the X next to the tag. Another feature of the TAG link is you can select a section of text from your post and then click TAG, that text will automatically appear in the add tag (don't forget to click "add tag"). That functionality may depend on your JavaScript security settings. Tag Suggestions: The list of tag suggestions is parsed on matches between our list of 100,000 or so already used tags, and your post. Many are too ambiguous or irrelevant. However, you can simply click any of them and that tag will be automatically added to the post. It will pop up the TAG menu. About Tags The objective with the tags is to be specific so that you get targeted links and people browsing the directory will also find your post(s) easily. However, you won't want to get so specific that your post will be the only one using a specific tag. For example, often it would be better to use two tags, instead of one, ie;
NOT:
You are limited to 10 tags per post to focus on getting the essence of the post not thinking up as many variations as possible, ie: this would be kinda pointless:
It would be more sensible to use one variation and some other appropriate tags, ie:
Tag Stuffing. Please don't use multiple tags as one tag, ie:
Avoid overuse of adjectives, ie: don't use:
Instead focus on:
In some situations adjectives are ok, ie:
But only when your post is really about finding the best retirement place or best cities. If you tag a general post about retirement with "best retirement place" people will be quite disappointed. (And, we believe disappointed people also means disappointed search engine bots and rankings). Bad things: 'Bad things' could mean a lot of different things. Basically we summarize it as anything not friendly to the whole family. We don't allow such posts or tags. We also don't allow tags or posts that don't like 'bad things'. The reason is that search engines don't really know the difference between 'bad things' and 'i don't like bad things'. You (and us) will rank on 'bad things' in either presentation. Allowed tag characters. Tags can have the letters a-z, space and 0-9. A-Z is converted to lower case and everything else is removed. Therefore, tags are not necessarily grammatically correct, "Costa Rica" will be "costa rica" and "Apple's" will be "apples".
